Dead man resurrect asks for water at his funeral, then dies again

It was confusion as RELATIVES of a 'dead' man were left scampering for cover after he woke up while he was being prepared for burial and asked for water to drink and died again before it was delivered.

The incident occurred in Sibomvu Village in Zimbabwe popularly known as Sibomvini

A source, who is a village elder, identified the dead man as Senzangakhona Ndlovu. The man reportedly died a day before his brief resurrection.

"You know that in rural areas people don't take long to bury the deceased and what happened is that when some family members were preparing him for burial he woke up and asked to be given water. I really don't know what could be the reason. It is still a mystery," he said.

After the man woke up, some of the relatives, who were helping with the preparations, reportedly ran out of the hut while others remained.

An uncle to the deceased, Thandaza Sibanda, said they were still in shock.

"I don't have the words but up to today we as a family don't know what happened. We were doing our rituals when he suddenly opened his eyes and started talking saying he was thirsty and wanted to drink water. It was a shocker and some of the relatives even ran away. Unfortunately, we were not able to give him the water because we were all still in shock and he passed out again and never woke up," he said.

The burial reportedly went ahead.

Sibanda said in the days preceeding the burial, they consulted a traditional healer because they were not sure if it was their relative talking, ancestors or evil spirits.

"The traditional healer said it could have been the ancestors who were telling us something and we are in the process of having a ritual to ascertain what it was that they were telling us," he said.
